Consumable items such as duct tape, booties, rubber gloves, etc. can be non-stock items in ServMan and manually tracked for reordering.
If you want use ServMan to track and automatically reorder consumable items (with the Auto Create PO program) then you can follow the instructions in Option 2 under the Help topic “Replenishing Truck Stock” with one minor addition.
Option 2 in “Replenishing Truck Stock” will allow you to automate the reordering of consumable items (using the item’s min/max settings by warehouse) provided that the user enters the item number on a work order when he uses the item. We understand that the user wants to replace an entire roll of duct tape or a box of booties. We also understand that he will not want to enter the usage of 2 feet of duct tape or a pair of booties each time he uses them.
As a result, the consumable item will be entered only on the work order where the roll, box, or whatever unit of measure was used up on.
To prevent ServMan from unfairly associating the costs of the entire roll or box to that order you should check the box “Exclude from job costing” on the Cost Code associated with that item.
Cost Code Setup:
The Order Profit Summary tab and the Job reports will automatically ignore material costs for items where the Cost Code excludes costs from job costing.
The Invoice Register Analysis report should be run with the “Exclude cost on entries with cost codes to be excluded from job costing” option checked to exclude consumable items from that report.
